In order to fulfil the BCI Mandate in every community we develop, we engage with community leaders to accommodate local practices and problem-solving processes to define, map and optimise community management capacity, to inspire support for our common cause and to help accomplish our objectives in our partner countries.
Community benefit is always at the core of all our endeavours with local workforce training and employment programs, selection of contractors, local consultants, logistics and other service providers. We attach the utmost importance to the people, to their day-to-day needs, social structures and cultural traditions. Projects in the past that have not adopted this approach, have been less than effective.
The BCI seeks to include as many of the benefits of 21st century technology and practices into all buildings and processes deriving the best possible value, to build sustainable economies and inclusive societies of the future.
By identifying all relevant operative stakeholders early in the process and inviting them to partner with us in the initial stages of the project and through continuous engagement, we achieve timely delivery, efficiency and process optimisation. This is the part of our blueprint for future replication.
We will set up the BCI “Hands-on” Skills Training Programme and Maintenance Programme, to effectively transfer skills, improve employment prospects and ensure quality future maintenance, repair and upgrade of dwellings, community facilities and infrastructure.
The success of our projects is measured by the long-term sustainability of our communities and through the post completion occupancy process. We work with new community representatives on community-led programmes important for their well-being, such as workshops in health, education, technology and access to services. Therefore, we will pay special attention when selecting our local teams and partners, to secure the quality delivery of all objectives.
